The Sum Of All Fossils

Slut Aus Nord This is probably the best and most influential experimental death metal album of the 2010s. If you haven't heard it, you are missing out on a harrowing experience and a vital part of the genre's history. Favorite track: Fossil Record.

Lorenzo Absolutely massive experimental death metal / grindcore. Starting with grounded techdeath before branching off into an avant-garde structure full of dissonance, there are moments of nearly impenetrable insanity. Kept in check by a bleak atmosphere and ever flowing song progression. There is a pain and grief to it, particularly due to the vocals.

Bringing in a palette of industrial sounds, post-hardcore, as well as noise rock into their scope further throws this album off a traditional path

about

"Flourishing draws from a wide, Jackson Pollock-splattered palette of death metal, grindcore, noise-rock, post-hardcore and industrial music, but its music never feels disjointed. Take a few steps back from the New York City trio's debut, The Sum of All Fossils, and the crumbling ruins fall into place, beat by bludgeoning beat." - NPR

"Flourishing’s “The Sum of All Fossils is a true achievement. It takes both skills and tremendous guts to avoid the tired tropes of a genre. Flourishing is an amorphous beast; hard to pin down, harder to classify. Let’s hope more bands follow their lead." - Cvlt Nation

Debut LP from NYC experimental deathgrinders Flourishing. Highly recommended for fans of Pyrrhon, Human Remains and Gorguts. Limited to 300 hand-numbered copies on 180gm black, maroon and white vinyl. Each LP comes with a free digital download of the album.
